About Suze: Being Romantic

Nineteen years ago my now-husband asked me if I wanted to be his girlfriend. Of course I said yes straight away. It was love at first sight for both of us, but it took us two years to become a couple. We were high school sweethearts and are still together. We grew up together. When we both went to university we moved in together. And twelve years after becoming a couple we finally got married.

I've always been romantic and fortunately my husband is as well. Sometimes people find it weird that we are so close, that we still like to go on dates and that we're calling each other several times a day even though he comes home straight after work. I've always been the candlelit dinner, sweets and roses kind of person. I love love and can't get enough of hearing and reading other people's love stories.

A few days ago it was my wedding anniversary. Because both anniversaries are so close together my husband and I normally go away for a romantic weekend or week, but this year he was sick on our wedding anniversary and today I had a hospital appointment. We won't be able to go out tonight, which is a first. I have all kinds of dreams for when we'll be able to catch up. One is to go on a romantic December trip to Brugge. The atmosphere is absolutely wonderful there close to Christmas. Another would be a lovely romantic dinner at a cozy restaurant. I love planning romantic dates, so hopefully I'll get my chance soon.

Making beautiful memories is what I like the most. I'm working on my first romantic novel and can't wait to do some research to find out which settings are working, what would be the perfect date and what would be a great way to propose. I can't wait to try some new ideas. I think I have the wrong holiday in my head as I'm constantly singing love songs instead of Christmas tunes...

  1. I love how you and Anton are together. It is so different from Greg and I, mind you I would love the romance and flowers. He did arrange a mini cruise for the year anniversary of our engagement but it fell through. Good job really as when else did a crossing later in the year I was sick all the way. You deserve a great time in Bruges and it is one of my favourite cities

  3. My husband and I are also old friends. We have known each other since grade school and we still enjoy each others company. We love doing things together, being together. It's a once in a lifetime love for me, so glad you have that too!

  4. My husband and I aren't very romantic. we don't do more than a card on anniversaries and don't do anything at all for Valentine's Day, but we do walk along hand in hand, which some people find funny around here.
