  10. In Ireland we do have Halloween but for my family it's always been the more pagan/Celtic elements of the festival that we celebrate.; the end of the harvest, the coming of winter, good against evil. I don't remember ever dressing up as a child or being allowed to go house to house. That 'trick or treating' influence comes from America.

  20. My favorite thing about Halloween is, of course, lots of candy. But I also love Fall. It's my favorite time of the year. When I was in high school, I dressed up as Cyndi Lauper, a popular singer from the eighties who sang, GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN!! And I did have fun that night! I won Best Costume!! I even did a great voice impersonation. I didn't sing but I had the voice down perfectly.

  49. I love curling up on the settee with the dog and watching as many dodgy horror films (they have to be "dodgy" - it's tradition) as we can. :) Don't have any "trick or treaters" as our road doesn't have many young people any more, but there's always a bag of sweets (and some change) if they do happen to stop by. Think our long-haired Alsatian puts them off as she looks a bit like a wolf (so makes a good "friend in a werewolf costume"). :D

  50. The best costumes we had as a family a few years back when I forgot to buy anything and we used a pile of black bin bags, old clothes, porridge oats, food colouring and all sorts of other bits and the daughter and I became witches, my son and husband zombies. We had such fun making gruesome skins and scars, lots of blood etc that I vowed never to buy a costume again.
