Review by Suze
Adam is a handsome man and women tend to notice him. He does sleep around, mostly with married women who aren't looking for any kind of relationship. Commitment is something that Adam doesn't want at all. He drinks, he takes risks and he doesn't have a steady job. His life isn't going anywhere and his friend Nate keeps trying to stand by him and warn him when he's about to make a mistake. Adam is so troubled by his past that he can't get himself together. Then he meets Sienna. Sienna knows Adam is someone she should stay away from, but she sees something in him. She's giving him chance after chance, because she knows he's broken. They like each other a lot, but will he change his ways for her, will he actually be able to do that or will he break Sienna's heart?
Adam lives on a boat and Sienna keeps seeing him with different women. That's how she knows he's good in bed and she needs something from him. He's helping her, but that help has a price. Is this price something that both of them are ready to pay? Even though Adam isn't ideal boyfriend material there's something endearing about him. I could understand why Sienna wanted to give him a chance. I wanted it to work between them, but there were so many obstacles. I kept hoping and was keeping my fingers crossed for this unusual couple.
Sheryl Browne's words are sparkling, they are so energetic. I admire the way she writes her stories, they are full of life. Sheryl's main characters are different, they have quirks and they don't have standard jobs. I love that about them. Even though Adam should be bad news I liked him straight away and I wanted him to find love. He isn't a bad guy, he's messed up. Sheryl Browne manages to give her characters a lot of depth. She doesn't only do that when she writes big and important scenes, but also with small gestures. Adam is trying to do the right thing for Sienna, he's courting her, he's trying to convince her dad that he's worthy of his daughter's love and he's there when she needs to be saved. All of that makes his mistakes easily forgiven and forgotten. Adam and Sienna are an unusual couple and their story is quite unique. I liked that a lot. I really enjoyed reading this book, I love Sheryl Browne's strong and intense writing, it's a joy to read.

ReplyDeleteHe needed to believe in himself. I'm thinking he's finally starting to. :) Thanks so much for commenting, lovely. xx
DeleteGreat review, Suze! I loved this book too, as you know :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Sophie. I am more thrilled than I can say - with the lovely reviews and the wonderful support. It comes at a time when I so needed it. It means the world to me. I think you know that. I hope you do. :) xxx
DeleteI would give only one chance!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carina. He's trying! I think his heart has been hurt too much to want to inflict the same hurt on the woman who truly loves and believes in him. Plus, I think he realises he'll have more people than her father to answer to! ;) xx
DeleteGive him one chance!
ReplyDeleteLooks like he has a few people willing to give him his chance, Rhonda. Thank you! :) xx
DeleteI would probably stay away from him. Nice review!
ReplyDeleteSienna's heart wouldn't let her, Margie. And now Adam's heart has started beating again ... ;) Thank you for stopping by to comment. I totally ADORE my review. So very pleased. xx
Deletestay away
ReplyDeleteHe has a lot to prove! I think he can do it (he knows he has eyes on him!) ;) Thanks so much for stopping by. xx
DeleteEveryone deserves a second chance, except terrorists. So yes, I'd give Adam a chance.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mai. Adam has messed up, spectacularly. He'd desperate not to hurt Sienna. He's learning to trust himself and like himself a little better. More importantly, he trusts in her love for him. :) xx
DeleteOnly a second chance, not a third!!
ReplyDeleteI love him, Ruth, but he wouldn't deserve a third, even in my opinion. :) xx
DeleteI would have given him a chance! :)
ReplyDeleteAs did Sienna, Catarina! He has her heart and is desperate not to break it. :) xx
DeleteI would probably give him a second chance even though I know deep down that he would break my heart. After that I would have to walk away and probably rebuild myself.
ReplyDeletestay away!
ReplyDeleteI can't say I blame you, Michelle. He's working hard to reinvent himself though. The ingredients are all there, just totally mixed up! Thanks for stopping by, sweetie. :) xx
DeleteEveryone deserves a second chance, but that's it. If he doesn't appreciate it that's on him, no more chances!
ReplyDeleteI agree. A second, yes (but he's going to have to work at it!). A third, uh, uh. Thanks for commenting, sweetie. :) xx
DeleteEveryone deserves a second chance, but that's it. If he doesn't appreciate it that's on him, no more chances!
ReplyDeleteI would probably be staying away.
ReplyDeleteSienna couldn't, Mary. She realised his attraction was more than skin deep (though Adam hid it well). He's trying! :) xx
Deleteit would be so easy to say I would stay away from him but I think I would be drawn to him anyway!
ReplyDeleteAs was Sienna, like metal to a magnet. Thank goodness! I was really worried where Adam was heading until Sienna made him stop running. Thanks so much for commenting. :) xx
DeleteSuze, I haven't said thank you yet! THANK YOU, sweetie. I am truly thrilled by your amazing review and touched by your beautiful post. So very glad you enjoyed The Rest of My life. So pleased to have someone like you (and Sophie and all fantastic readers and reviewers) batting in my corner. I would be lost without you. :) xxx
ReplyDeleteI think it depends, if I was really attracted to him I would probably give him a chance because otherwise I would wonder all my life what would have happened if I did! But I don't trust people very easily, so if after the second time I gave him a chance he disappointed me, I would have stayed away!

I think some ppl deserve a second chance ;)
ReplyDeleteGive him another chance!
ReplyDeleteA second chance, yes, because I like to think that people learn from their mistakes.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely give him a second chance. My husband was like him when I first met him. When he realised that he would loose me forever he asked me a second chance. He changed completely and became 100% devoted. Now after 10 years I am the happiest woman in the world by his side.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely give him a second chance.
ReplyDeleteI'd stay away, I don't have time for game-playing.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely stay away from a guy like that. (No offense, of course!)
ReplyDeleteAt my age and after two failed marriages, I would stay far away from him. :)
ReplyDeleteEvery one should deserve a second chance :)
ReplyDeleteI would definitely stay away.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely stay away.
ReplyDeleteI'd most likely stay away.
ReplyDeleteI would probably give him a second chance - and then regret it
