Brusenna is the last.
All the other witches have been captured, their songs stolen and twisted from harmony and growth into chaos and death. She alone must stand against an evil much older and darker than anything she could ever imagine—an evil every witch before her has failed to vanquish.
In that, Brusenna must be the first.

I must admit that it was the cover which first pulled me in. I couldn't resist and I am glad that I didn't.
Brusenna lives with her mother in a small town. They live in a secluded area which is hidden in a forest. The town people are not really excited about them being there. The rumors say that they are witches and people blame them for the never ending draught. When Brusenna is wrongfully accused at the town market another witch comes to her rescue and asks her to bring her home to her mother.
Brusenna (or Senna ) is a bit reluctant to do so because they never bring people to their house.
Little does she know that the witch and her mother are no strangers to each other. Her mother is part of the keepers, a group of the last remaining eight witches. They have to fight the evil witch who has captured so many other witches. Her mother has to leave her alone to stand by her sisters and fight this battle.
When Senna finds out she is the last one standing she has to leave her secluded place. She is young and untrained but still she has to battle for the release of all the other witches. In her journey she finds her guardian Joshen. A young man who will stand by her and will do anything to keep her safe. Now it is up to her to succeed where so many others have failed.
I absolutely loved this story. Amber Argyle has created a beautiful magical world. I loved the fact that witches are singing instead of chanting. I couldn't put this book down and loved it till the very last page.
