Fabulous Freebie: A Beautiful Mess by T.K. Leigh

What happens when you lose everyone that promised they would always be there for you? How can you protect the few pieces of your shattered heart that remain? Olivia Adler is a woman with a troubled past. After losing her parents at the young age of six and being raised by an uncle who she lost years later, she refuses to get attached to anyone, including friends. For the past decade, she has been able to remain unattached to any man, too worried about losing someone to get too close. Until Alexander Burnham walks into her life one night and changes everything. But he has issues of his own. And he's keeping a secret that could turn Olivia's world upside-down. Will Olivia let Alexander in enough for him to get close and protect her from a force threatening her very existence, or will she push him away, scared of letting Alexander in, in order to protect her heart? A Beautiful Mess is the first installment of a three part series sure to captivate the heart with a story of secrets, courage, and love.

Olivia lives her life following her own rules. She doesn't date, she doesn't let anyone get close to her and she absolutely does not do the boyfriend thing. There are only two people in her world who she's letting in and who know her story. Because she's lost everyone and is afraid to lose someone again she'd rather be alone. One night she gets attacked and the gorgeous Alexander rescues her. From the very first time she looks into his eyes she feels there's a connection between them.

Alexander was only nine years old when his life changed tragically. Many years later he still has nightmares about his past. He's now a grown man with a Navy Seal background and he has a succesful security company. Alexander is a beautiful man and he's the most eligble bachelor in town. He doesn't do the love thing and is perfectly fine with a one night stand every once in a while. When he's on his way to his office late at night he hears a woman scream. He comes to her rescue and when he looks into her beautiful brown eyes he knows he's lost his heart.

I knew from the beginning where the story was heading and what the secrets of Olivia and Alexander were. It wasn't too hard to fill in the blanks. It was a great plus to know what was going to happen, as it made me really curious about the when and how. I was cheering for Olivia and Alexander to find love.

T.K. Leigh makes it perfectly clear that whatever happens and whatever you do to keep your walls up, love will always find its way back to you. I like that message a lot.
