Suzanne Loves Stuwaha Creations! + Giveaway

I love Stuwaha Creations. I found this shop when I was looking for book jewelry and was pleasantly surprised when I saw that the owner, Sarah, also makes amazing hand painted items. I'm very much in love with them.

In Sarah's shop you can find an amazing selection of all kinds of creative jewelry and bookmarks. Every item is really pretty and there's a lot to choose from.

Sarah knows how to combine things. I love her mix of materials and colors. It makes everything she sells so nice to look at.

I've asked Sarah a few questions to find out more about her and her shop.

What inspires you?

Ever since I was a little girl I have been in love with the beauty and intricacy of miniatures. I've combined that with a lifelong adoration of books and reading to carve a niche for myself creating the items I offer for sale.

I have also always very much enjoyed creating accessories and wearable art, so I experiment with ways to tie all of these things together in my ever expanding range of products.

Where did you learn your craft/art?

I learned painting and jewelry making through many years of experimentation, but some techniques I've picked up from internet tutorials which I've tailored to suit my needs.

How did your Etsy adventure start?

My Etsy adventure started in 2008 when I opened my store and put a few paintings up for sale. None of the paintings sold, the listings expired and I forgot all about Etsy for approximately 5 years.

In June 2013 I rediscovered Etsy, put a few pairs of book earrings up for sale and much to my surprise they sold, so I made more.
The more sales I made the more I was able to increase my inventory and range of products, careful to always keep myself in profit.

In a year and a half(ish) my store has blossomed into what it is today.

What are your plans for the future?

In the short term I will continue to focus on keeping my stock levels up and completing custom orders.

My long term plan is to carry on experimenting, challenging myself, expanding and moving forward. I have so many ideas but unfortunately I can't be any more specific because life with a young child means taking one day at a time, never knowing when the next unplanned offspring event will completely reschedule all of my crafty intentions!

What would people be surprised to learn about you?

I love designing earrings and I have sold a lot of them to many happy customers however, I don't actually have pierced ears myself. My ears were pierced when I was about 4 or 5 but I somehow got myself adhered to a woven sofa cover, the earrings had to come out and the holes closed up.

Do you have any tips or advice for others?

The internet is such an amazing resource. You can truly teach yourself almost any skill without having to purchase a single book or manual because of all the people out there who are willing to share their knowledge for free, so use it, explore, learn and be inspired to create your own wonderfully personal and unique things.

When it comes to selling, my advice is to be prepared for a lot of trial and error to find your market but never allow yourself to come out of profit (including cost of materials + time) just to make a sale, however tempting it may be.

This bookmark is fantastic. I love the fiery stones together with the book and the glasses as a finishing touch. Together they make it a perfect gift for every avid reader.

Sarah has an amazing prize for one lucky reader of my blog. I'm so proud to give it away.

This flower and butterfly hand painted jewelry set can be yours. Enter the rafflecopter below to have a chance.

Here you can see the necklace a bit closer, it's gorgeous!

The same goes for the earrings, they are so pretty.

Good luck!
