Suzanne Loves ATERG crochet! & Giveaway

I love ATERG crochet. It's such a wonderful and cheerful shop. Every item has been crocheted with care.

I found this shop when I was looking for cute owl items. The owner, Greta, sells both finished crocheted items and patterns, so crocheters all over the world can make her designs.

I like the happy colors and the cheerful atmosphere of this shop. It's very attractive.

I've asked Greta a couple of questions to find out more about her, her designs and her Etsy shop.

Your designs are so cheerful, how did you get the idea?

I am not a black and white girl but LOVE color next to unaffected naturals. Just pure simplicity with a flourishing touch! My Etsy shop was not a well thought-out plan, I had listed some colorful crochet plaids and some of my own crochet designs. The layout was very simple, my home was/is the background for the pictures. The realization process of my colorful shop happened along the way.

Where did you learn to crochet?

When we were little my mother used to make us beautiful dresses, trousers and tunics. She also knitted us colorful sweaters, crocheted hats, poncho’s, bags or curtains. We copied her trying to dress our Barbie and meanwhile we learned the detailed crafts from my mother. It made me ‘craft-curious’ so I started to study other crafts like spinning wool, weaving, painting silk and turning glass beads in the flame.

What inspires you?

To snoop around, reading art craft magazines, I love to leaf through all kind of DIY magazines, the crochet lovers who ‘drop by’ in my shop, young people learning to crochet and pick up other crafts, turning old fashioned into hip, turning a picture or drawing into a crochet item, wonderful yarns/fabrics and ……………… my biggest inspiration ‘colors’ to make unexpected color combinations.

How did your Etsy adventure start?

When we lived in Paris I met two Dutch artists. One started an interior shop and asked me to sell my home made glass beads/jewelry, crochet plaids and crochet designs in her shop. The other one designed children clothes and needed a good dress-maker. Via them I discovered Etsy and started my glass bead jewelry shop. Sadly enough I had no luck but once I started my crochet shop with ready-made crochet items a lot of crochet lovers asked me if I would like to share my patterns. I had no experience in working out patterns but I took a deep dive, extremely excited and lots to learn. It worked out tremendously and it became my daily job which I enjoy every day.

What are your plans for the future?

I have no special plan for my shop but plan to stay creative in all kinds of ways. Creating more lovely crochet ideas that float in my head, keep my shop small ‘just me’, take time for exquisite custom requests and listing new patterns in my shop to inspire lots of other crochet lovers.

Do you have any good advice for my readers?

Never think ‘I can’t do that’ always think ‘I’ll try and see’ and after that there is sooooooo much more to discover. Enjoy, live!!

I think that's great advice, ATERG crochet is so positive and joyful, I think that's the most fabulous thing there is.

  1. OMG! I'm blown away by this shop! I think I just favorited half of her 'Made by Me' items! Hopefully I can afford to purchase a garland soon. The colors are so cheerful and vibrant and crocheted items just make me happy for some reason. I can't crochet, I've tried. The process just amazes me!
