Lavender Loves Valenwood Vixen! & Giveaway

I love Valenwood Vixen, it's such a lovely shop with stylish jewelry for decent prices.

The owner of the shop, Sarah, makes jewelry with real flowers, real butterfly wings (the butterflies haven't been harmed for this) and gemstones.

There's a selection of rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings.

Sarah's appreciation for nature is the foundation of her shop. Nature's materials are unique, not one of them is the same. Sarah loves the simplicity and the individuality of what nature has to offer.

Sarah started her Etsy shop, because of her love for jewelry and crafts and because she wants to be able to spend as much time as possible with her son.

Resin is Sarah's material of choice. It offers so many possibilities and she manages to perfectly capture the beautiful flowers and wings she finds.

I asked Sarah how her Etsy adventure started:

I started working with resin about a year ago. I was looking for a creative way to preserve my son's first lock of baby hair, and thought resin was a good place to start. I am self taught, and experimented for awhile before finally figuring out how to really work with it and which resins worked best for me.  I ended up with so much jewelry from my experiments that I decided to sell some on Etsy! That was April of last year.

I love the way Sarah manages to capture the beauty of the items she finds. Her jewelry is simple and stylish and she lets what's inside the resin speak for itself.

Sarah doesn't only make jewelry of precious items she finds, but she also offers a service to capture something that's important to you in resin. For example a lock of hair or a flower from a wedding bouquet. I love this service and think it's a great idea.

I asked Sarah to tell me a bit more about what inspires her to make this kind of jewelry:

I am inspired mostly by nature. I love collecting flowers and leaves on my walks through the woods, and keep most of my jewelry simple to keep the focus on the natural beauty presented. I keep the clean and simple aesthetic going in my custom keepsake pendants as well- I am always so glad others find my visions worthy of their own keepsakes for their children's and loved one's hair lock keepsakes.

Sarah discovered resin when she wanted to do something wonderful with a lock of hair from her son, that's when Valenwood Vixen was born.

I love the name Valenwood Vixen. There's a reason behind it, which you can find on Sarah's about page. I've also copied it for you:

'I decided to call my shop Valenwood Vixen- Valen (strong, healthy), wood (forest), and Vixen because my jewelry should make you feel foxy... strong, Earthy, sexy.'

Sarah is a woman with a vision and that's something that's clearly visible when you visit her shop.

If you have a special request you can always contact Sarah, she'd love to help you and does everything she can to realize the wishes of her customers.

I asked Sarah what her plans are for the future:

I hope to continue creating for a long while- I love the creative outlet and chance to help others hold on to special moments and memories. People seem very drawn to my keepsake pendants- I have commissioned more of those then anything else! I have made keepsake pendants from all sorts of mementos- baby hair, a deceased loved ones hair, pets fur, horse hair, wedding bouquets.... The demand has gotten high enough I am contemplating opening another shop dedicated to memorial and keepsake jewelry.

The keepsake jewelry is such a fantastic idea, I'm one hundred percent sure that Sarah's going to make so many people happy with this service.

Sarah has offered a wonderful giveaway item. One very lucky reader of my blog will receive this amazing blue flower necklace. It's gorgeous, good luck!

I will contact the winner on twitter or via email. If I don't get a reply within 60 hours the prize will go to someone else. All of my giveaways are international.
