I love Simona Candini Art. It's such an amazing shop with beautiful prints and original paintings made by Simona.
Simona is an Italian artist. With her paintings she brings old fairytales to life in a stunning and unique way.
I've asked Simona a few questions to find out more about her and her art.
1) Your paintings often are a combination of cute and sweet and dark elements at the same time. Could you explain why you're using that combination?
My personality is a mix of opposite things, so probably this is showing in my paintings too. I like the contrast between opposites, to emphasize the concept behind the cuteness of my drawings. It makes people think and it is something that stirs emotions and I think that this is very important.
2) Where/how did you learn how to paint?
I did graduate at the Academy of fine Art university in Bologna, Italy, but I consider myself a self thought artist because I've actually learned how to paint and draw myself.
3) Where do you find inspiration?
I'm inspired first of all by my personal experiences, fairytales, books, music, manga and anime, my favorite artists, movies, by nature, and dreams.
4) Could you tell a bit more about how and why you started selling your art on Etsy?
I've started to take my art career more seriously when i started to sell my art online in 2010. After a while I started to work with galleries and now I offer my art both trough galleries around the world, and in my online shops. I chose Etsy because it has reasonable fees and I knew a good number of artists with an Etsy shop, so i wanted to try it myself.
I'm a big fan of anime and manga. I love Simona's faces, they're gorgeous. What I also like is the combination of colors and the kind of emotion every single painting expresses. This wonderful mix makes me want to keep looking at every single painting and drawing.
