The Dutch Talent of the Month is LoveLingZ! & Giveaway

I'm Dutch and I'm delighted when I find someone talented who's from the Netherlands as well. I'm so happy to be featuring LoveLingZ as this shop is an absolute favorite of mine. The felt bunnies are the cutest I've ever seen and the photos are so pretty that they could be turned into prints. There's so much to see in MyrMin's shop!

I asked MyrMin a couple of questions and love her replies.

1) How and where did you learn to make these felt animals?

I don't know exactly how I learned to make my little animals, but I've tried and practiced a lot! Ever since I can remember I've been crafting with scraps of fabric, paper and wool which was quite a hassle as I'm from a businesslike and inartistic family. I had to be creative with my materials as there never were any real craft materials, but sometimes I cut up a washcloth when my parents weren't looking. I can't remember someone teaching me how to make things, I tried to draw and design my own plushes and while doing that I taught myself how to make them.

2) How do you make your animals?

Even now I don't use real patterns. I draw the animal and use it as a base to roughly draw the parts of the pattern, then I start to cut pieces of fabric and sew. Sometimes I have to do a little bit of extra cutting, but after that it usually looks exactly like the plush animal I designed. I use my intuition and combine that with experience. After years and years of practice this process is almost naturally.

3) Could you tell a bit more about yourself?

I'm an artistic jack-of-all-trades, I love everything: drawing, designing, writing (poetry and stories), photography, but my passion is music, especially writing it myself. You can find some of my songs on Youtube. At the moment I'm working as a piano teacher and I'm running my own quirky music school where there's one central theme: the love and fun of creating and playing music. We don't do scales and forced assignments, but try to find the right pieces for the right person. That way the learning process is much quicker and there's a lot more joy.

Actually... I'm officially a ballet teacher... Since the birth of my two sons I've stopped working as such, also unfortunately because of back problems. I don't really mind, I loved dancing, but it was also very hard which means I had less time for all of my other hobbies.

4) What inspires you?

Last year both of my sons were going to high school which meant I had a bit more time for myself. When I saw a picture of a small fabric animal I was completely in love! I immediately started drawing my own little animals and tried a few different things. At first I made rabbits from soft felt. Later I also made accessories for them, so they have something to hold. I made them with flexible, bendable limbs, so I could place something between them. I like giving them all kinds of things to hold, like flowers, a little baby bunny, a musical instrument, an umbrella, etcetera. I also make hats and bows for them.

5) Why did you choose Etsy?

It was so much fun to make these felt animals (I always make them while listening to some nice music, next to the heater with the cat on my lap) that I had a whole bunch of them in a short period of time. Everyone I knew had one already and one of them suggested that I should sell them, because they are so cute.I started an online search to find places to sell them and soon I came across Etsy. I fell in love straight away, as there are so many cute items for sale!

 6) Your photos are amazing, it would be great to find out a bit more about them.

Thank you, taking them is also one of my hobbies. I spend a lot of time making them as perfect as possible, because I love it. First I create the animal and then I take a photo straight away. After that I'll start editing in Photoshop to make my animals stand out against the background. Sometimes I spend hours finding the right combination to make my animals come to life. I love placing my bunnies in a fairytale like forest or a romantic soft, snowy night. Many people think the real item is way cuter than the photo, so there's still room to improve.

7) How much time does it take to make a felt animal?

It takes 4 hours to make the animals, without the accessories. It's miniature sewing work with a less than 3 cm long needle which is very thin. Everything is being done by hand, the work is too specific to use a machine. All of my creations are unique, none of my animals are exactly the same. I can make replicas, but I won't as I want my creations to be unique.

I'm completely in love with these bunnies and other cute felt animals. I love the amount of detail, the shape of the ears and the flexible paws. These animals are perfect, they're so amazing to look at. MyrMin is such a talented person and I'm glad I've met her.

I'm very sure that you will love this shop. MyrMin ships worldwide and she has so many different designs that there's something for everyone.

This super cute gray bunny is waiting for a new owner. MyrMin has generously given it to me to send to one lucky winner. Enter the rafflecopter below to have a chance. Good luck!
