Snow Angels, Secrets & Christmas Cake by Sue Watson

Snow Angels, Secrets and Christmas Cake is a truly heart-warming and hilarious read about sisters, love and finding the courage to be yourself – one snowflake at a time.

For Tamsin Angel, Christmas is always the biggest and best… chic parties and a little showbiz sparkle are a must. This year though, things aren’t going quite as planned…

With bailiffs suddenly at the door and her husband nowhere to be found, it looks like Christmas just got downsized. Moving into her sister’s one-bedroom flat, she wonders whether things will ever be the same again.

After losing her husband on Christmas Eve, Sam Angel has rebuilt her life around her son Jacob and her new business – The White Angel Bakery. She’s also found herself a very handsome, loving boyfriend, but is struggling to let go of the past.

Thrown together with a sprinkle of Christmas magic, Sam and Tamsin might just learn a little more about each other – and themselves. But when disaster strikes at the bakery, will they be able to save the day in time for Christmas?

It's almost Christmas which means it's the busiest time of the year for the sisters Tamsin and Sam. Tamsin is wealthy and every year she tries to throw the best Christmas party in the neighborhood. Everything is going according to plan as she's fully prepared as always. Then something awful happens, a pair of bailiffs shows up to take possession of her home. Apparently her husband has made a huge mess of their finances. He's nowhere to be found and the only thing Tamsin can do is moving in with her sister. Sam runs a bakery and lives in a small apartment above the shop. At first the elegant Tamsin feels completely out of place and it isn't easy to adjust to a lifestyle without luxury. Sam is a widow with a young son. She's dating a wonderful man, but she's scared to move to a more serious level in their relationship. When Tamsin starts to get over the first shock she offers to help her sister in the bakery. Finally they're becoming closer again and they're getting to see each other's positive sides. When things seem to be looking up something terrible happens. Will the sisters be able to solve these problems so they can have a wonderful Christmas?

Sam and Tamsin are complete opposites. Sam is a hippie, a free spirit who doesn't care what other people think of her. She doesn't strive to fit in, but can the same be said for her little boy? Tamsin is a bit stuck up, but there's so much going on under that cool facade. She has a lot of childhood traumas she still hasn't come to terms with. This is giving the story a bit of extra depth and I liked the way Sue Watson addressed it. She's managed to write a wonderful and easy to read story about two heavy topics. I think that's brilliant. The bakery and the talk about all of the delicious types of cake made my mouth water. Even when everything goes wrong love is what keeps the sisters going, I liked that message very much. Snow Angels, Secrets and Christmas Cake is a wonderful, festive read about strong family ties and unbreakable bonds.

  1. What a great write up. Don't think I want to write mine now. X
