I was so happy when I found a wonderful Dutch shop on Etsy. I love amigurumi and food jewelry and that's what Creepy And Cute specializes in. I really like the fact that Maike, the owner, makes cute little monsters. They are so funny and whimsical, I think they are adorable!
I asked Maike a few questions to find out a little bit more about her creations and her shop.
1) Could you tell me something about the beginning of your Etsy adventure?
I started my Etsy shop at the beginning of 2013. I've been creating
plush creatures and polymer sculptures for a very long time, but never
had the guts to put them online and start selling them. Our house
however got really crowded with all my creations, so my boyfriend Koen
finally gave me the last push to open an Etsy shop and he made me an
awesome website.
Now, almost two years later I can say it's the best choice I've ever made. I never thought it would be this successful, with my creations going all over the world and being published in several great magazines.
I still do a little happy dance with every new sale ;)

2) Where and when did you learn how to make amigurumi and polymer clay jewelry?
When I was a child I was always making stuff. I started working with
polymer clay and making things on my mother's sewing machine around the
age of 10. Crocheting however I just taught myself about three years
ago. I fell in love with all those cute amigurumi I saw online, so I
purchased a crocheting hook and some yarn and started looking up
tutorials on the internet.
Once you get the hang of it it’s really not that difficult and because people kept asking for patterns of some of my creatures, and I know how cool it is to make something yourself, I even started to sell some of my patterns.

What I like about Maike's shop is that she has her own distinctive style. I love the way she plays with forms, shapes and ears. I can't stop admiring her dolls and her amigurumi are very cute. For a kawaii lover like me this store is the perfect place to shop!
Here you can find Maike's creatures. They all have fabulous names and for every character there's a little bit of information to get to know them better. It's such a great idea!
Maike makes some very realistic donut necklaces. They're amazing! There are four different designs. One lucky winner will receive a necklace with the donut of her (or his) choice. This giveaway is worldwide.
What is it going to be? Powdered sugar, pink or mint green glaze or chocolate? I think they all look equally delicious!

ReplyDeleteThe jumbo teddy bear is nothing short of an essential childhood friend - one that can be held and comforted and can offer comfort in return. Any child or adult that has not experienced life with a jumbo teddy bear doesn't realize what they've been missing out on. When the original creator of the teddy bear, German company Steiff, realized that in order for their bear to remain competitive in an ever-changing toy market, they had to update their range. Other companies, which looked to Steiff for 'inspiration,' soon followed suit. cute teddy bear names
