When I met Tanya on twitter we immediately clicked. Soon we became Facebook friends and we talk to each other a lot. When I'm up at night Tanya's often around to say hello. She's such a sweet person and I'm really lucky that she's my friend. Tanya's always cheerful and has a great sense of humour. You can discover that for yourself in the very funny post below. Tanya has also offered to give away a really nice prize and she will draw the winner on her birthday. Thank you Tanya, for being so generous with your kindness, the blog post and the giveaway!

Hello everyone!
Firstly I want to say a big
thank you to Suzanne for allowing me to post on her blog I feel very
privileged in being allowed to celebrate her birthday celebrations with
her. I am very lucky to be able to class Suzanne as a friend even
though only met when I joined twitter about three months ago. We often
chat until the early hours of the morning when we should be sleeping and
have received lovely happy mail from her.
Anyway I thought I
would write about one of my birthday celebrations which was a few years
ago now. My husband and I both turned 30 in the same year. For his
birthday we went paint balling and had a massive bbq. I was not too
happy as he was on the other team and he takes great pleasure in telling
people until this day how he legally shot his wife in the bum!! And yes
I could not sit down for a week as I had two massive bruises on my
backside. So for my 30th, 3 months later, there was no chance that I
was doing that again and he refused to partake in a pampering session at
a spa. Therefore we found ourselves going to Amsterdam and were
joined by my brother, his wife and two male friends.
Of course whilst there you are bound to go through the red light
district and maybe try a little smoke!! I can honestly say I didn’t like
the smoking but my husband and his friend were hilarious after trying
the cake and me and the others were rolling around laughing at them.
I
loved the flower markets and drinking in the square. We also did a
cruise around the canals in the evening and the Heineken brewery tour is
a must if you are in the area without children. The bartenders in there
loved our versions of Tom Jones songs they kept giving us extra drinks.
I don’t think I have ever drunk so much for so little money. I
remember coming out of there and thinking I must eat. However the
highlight to the break was the Anne Frank museum it was so surreal to go
inside the building and there was an airy hush around the place.
One
question though how on earth does anybody know where they have parked
their bikes there are so many of them and they all look the same??
I
would love to go back and have dropped hint at hubby to take me this
year. However our 40th in a few years will be more sedate as we plan aF1
trip. Less alcohol involved.
I want to have surprise not extravagant, but lovely giveaway in honour of both our birthdays.
My most memorable birthday was my 16th. We had a bad snow storm, school was cancelled, and I couldn't go get my drivers license. :( I was mostly bummed.

ReplyDeleteWhat I like best about surprise gifts is that they can tell a lot about what the other is thinking for you. Thank you for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWell, the surprise always surpasses the expectation.

ReplyDeleteMy best birthday... Hmm... 30 was pretty good because Huib and I went to London and had dinner at Jamie's Fifteen which was lovely. I wanted to escape my birthday, but when I came home my family had organised a small surprise party with food and presents. That was really sweet!
ReplyDeleteMy most memorable one was when I was 10--I got a blue portable Smith-Corona typewriter.
ReplyDeleteI love surprise gifts because...well...I love surprises! I have a terrible time making up my mind, so choosing something is next to impossible. Getting something you expect is kind of a let down. But a surprise--happy times!
ReplyDeleteMy most memorable birthday is probably last year....barely anyone came /:
ReplyDeleteSurprise gifts are great because of the mystery factor. There's nothing better than the adrenalin you get before you find out what something is
