My Life in Books 3

1) When I read Ian McEwan's Atonement I started to get interested in English literature more and more. Books in the Netherlands are expensive, so I read what I should for my studies and could only sporadicly afford to buy a book I wanted to read in my spare time.

2) I fell in love with Elizabeth Hand's Waking the Moon and it inspired me to read as many different books as I could. I wanted to see what was out there without feeling restricted by the canon and my professors.

3) Love and Devotion by Erica James made me hungry for more stories by English female authors. Because of this book I've discovered chick lit and romance. I still can't get enough of it.

4) When a friend recommended the series to me I read all of the Twilight books. I know a lot of people are ashamed of it these days, but I am not. I liked reading about vampires. I stopped bothering with Dutch translations and because I could order books online it was now possible to read every English book I wanted to read.

5) I wanted to read something more mature than Twilight, a similar book with a female kick ass heroine, but older. I found Kelley Armstrong's Otherworld books and I've been hooked on the Urban Fantasy genre ever since. I've read and reread this series and still can't get enough of them.

  1. I agree!! I know people get angry about Twilight but I still love it. I think it's a lot of fun and sure it has its flaws but I still love it. Glad I'm not alone! Also, I've heard Kelley Armstrong is really good and people love her series. I keep saying I'm going to read them soon!

  2. I read all Twilight books and liked them - esp. first two are good...the last two not that good, but I hope you will like them (I was sure you read them before) :)

  3. I loved Bitten, it set me on UF
